Queen Latifah joined Mayor Ras J. Baraka, First Lady Tammy Murphy, Audible Founder Don Katz and numerous other dignitaries to unveil a new monument honoring Harriet Tubman. The monument stands in Harriet Tubman Square, at the intersection of Washington and Broad Streets, in downtown Newark. New Jersey artist and architect Nina Cooke John; and Audible Founder Don Katz stand in front of the monument designed by Nina Cooke John, titled Shadow of a Face. The monument replaces a statue of Christopher Columbus that was removed in the summer of 2020. There is an accompanying narrative performed by Queen Latifah on Audible titled Monumental: Harriet Tubman and Newark’s Liberation Movement.
